A very special invitation - The transporters can move things
With the occasion of the event organized by Ziua Cargo in Mamaia, Mariana Nedelcu launched the invitation to create the Fund for Children with Locomotor Disability (Physical Impairment). As initiator of this project, she wanted to underline that the possibility of an economic branch to support a special social category represents a pioneering action not only for Romania, but for the whole Europe.
Why creating a fund for disabled children with the support of the ones involved in the industry of transports? Because the transports move things and the children with locomotor disability need help to travel.
"Children with locomotor disability are born and will still be born. There are accidents (maybe also with the involvement of the transporters) that lead to injuries that limit the movement capacity. There are intelligent people who can still have an important role to play, but the society is marginalizing the, because there isn't any infrastructure for them to be able to travel", showed Mariana Nedelcu, asking for the solidarity of the people who activate in the transport field. "The State shouldn't be the only responsible to assist vulnerable people. This should be done in partnership with the civil society, using the deduction percentage in the tax on income (2%) or on profit (20%), explained Mariana Nedelcu, adding that, currently, within the children assistance centers there isn't any possibility to transport the locomotory disables children to school. Practically, they are sent to the disabled children schools, dedicated to the children with mental disabilities, although we speak about perfectly normal children who can integrate in social groups.
A chance for thousands of kids
There were registered over 5,000 children with locomotor disability. Thousands of hopes that are ignored by everyone. Thousands of intelligent people who could have an important role to play. They only need "wheels".
Organizing a foundation with the help of the transporters to help the locomotor disabled children could change the situation for many of these small ones, who have the right to a real chance. Their life could change radically starting with simple things like a minibus with equipment for locomotor disabled people to take them to school, a wheelchair, prosthetic devices etc.
Ziua Cargo joins the invitation launched by Mariana Nedelcu to create a foundation to manage transparently the Fund for children with locomotor disability. The ones who want to contribute to this Fund (hauliers, logistic operators, professional associations, services and equipment providers for the transports industry or ordinary people) could become founder members with a contribution of 200 EUR. The list of founder members will be published on the webpage dedicated to this action and in Ziua Cargo magazine. Also, on the trucks, coaches or minibuses of the ones who will join this effort there will be stickers to show the status of supporter.
"I am supporting 100% this initiative. This pioneering action could ensure a bright future for the children with locomotor disability, but also could be an example to follow within the economy", concluded Mariana Nedelcu, ex-state secretary, coordinator of the department of social assistance, with a great expertise in voluntary social activities and well known for her activity in social integration and accessing European programs.
